This week it has emerged that Barcelona would be keen to allow 19-year-old Vitor Roque out on loan next season, despite signing him in January for €30m plus €31m in variables. They will have to persuade Roque to accept that idea though.

The Brazilian reportedly has no intention to go out on loan next season, as per Cadena SER, and his camp feel that the main issue is little to do with the finances of the deal, as his wages are low, but rather Xavi Hernandez’s lack of faith in him.

Roque has played just 310 minutes since arriving, and academy product Marc Guiu was even started ahead of him in March. Girona, Valencia, Real Betis and Sevilla have all shown interest in taking him on loan, and his agent Andre Cury is due to travel to Barcelona to discuss the matter this month.

It does seem likely that Barcelona’s salary limit concerns are a part of the equation. As he was registered for just the rest of the season as an emergency signing to replace the injured Gavi, he will have to be registered as a new signing again, meaning he will hit the Blaugrana salary limit for somewhere in the region of €10m next season.
