Coyotes’ Connor Ingram leads NHL in significant stat after beating Wild

Continuing to be a game-changing backbone for the Arizona Coyotes this season, goaltender Connor Ingram surpassed every NHL netminder in a major category last night.

Making 38 saves, he stopped anything that was fired at him to help the Coyotes blank the Minnesota Wild 6-0.

In doing so, Ingram recorded his fifth shutout of the season. Beforehand, he was tied alongside Vancouver Canucks goalie Thatcher Demko and Pittsburgh Penguins’ Tristan Jarry with four.

Not only is he leading the NHL in shutouts, but Ingram is a top-10 goaltender in the league statistically.

Ingram is eighth in wins (15), owns the 12th best goals-against-average (2.51) and tied with Demko for seventh in save percentage (.919).

Arizona’s goaltending duo of Ingram and Karel Vejmelka have split starts for most of the season. However, Ingram did play in nine-straight games from Nov. 20-Dec. 9, 2023, including him coming in relief for Vejmelka during the 6-5 loss to the St. Louis Blues on Nov. 22.

His agility, mobility and flexibility in the crease has came into the spotlight, making unworldly saves on Grade A scoring chances by the opposition.

The resurgent Coyotes (21-18-2) are within striking distance of a playoff spot, so Ingram will be relied on heavily as games become more and more meaningful.
