Chiefs knock out more important business with draft picks before the NFL schedule release

The Kansas City Chiefs continue to take care of some important business ahead of the NFL's schedule release.

A report surfaced earlier this week that the team had already signed sixth-round CB Kamal Hadden to his rookie deal. According to the NFL's personnel notice for Wednesday, May 15, that signing has been made official, along with four others.

TCU TE Jared Wiley, Washington State S Jaden Hicks, Penn State OL Hunter Nourzad, and Holy Cross OL C.J. Hanson have each signed standard four-year rookie contracts with the team. That means the team's Day 3 draft picks are all now under contract through the 2027 NFL season.

The only players now left unsigned include first-round Texas WR Xavier Worthy and second-round BYU OT Kingsley Suamataia, who just so happen to be the tougher of the picks to get under contract. Why are those contracts a bit more difficult to get done? There is more wiggle room in terms of negotiations when it comes to fully-guaranteed salary.

Suamataia is right in the range where his negotiation could take some time, but the good news is the Chiefs already have a model for his contract. Ravens OL Roger Rosengarten, who was taken just a few picks before Suamataia, already signed a four-year contract worth $6.7M including a $1,5M signing bonus and $3.3M guaranteed.
