We're back for another week of strikeout props, and we're looking to carry over some momentum after two winning weeks in a row. Let's attempt to do just that with my three favorite K props for Monday's MLB slate.
Lucas Giolito is coming off his best start with the Los Angeles Angels in which he struck out nine and gave up just one earned run in six innings of work, but he won't have as easy of a time Monday night. The Philadelphia Phillies are humming offensively with a .300 batting average, .942 OPS, and 22.9 percent strikeout rate over the last 15 days. The Phils are crushing right-handers right now, so I think Giolito could be in for a rough start to kick off the new week.
We're doing this again? Seriously?
Adam Wainwright has gone under 3.5 strikeouts 11 times in his last 12 starts. He's surrendered 29 hits and 24 earned runs over his last four appearances and surpassed 75 pitches just once in that span. Yet, despite all of that, sportsbooks are standing firm with Waino's K prop at 3.5. I'm willing to swallow the juice on this number considering the under has a 92 percent hit rate over the last three months.
The Milwaukee Brewers have been a below-average hitting team from a strikeout perspective for most of the year. Milwaukee has recorded a strikeout rate of 26.2 percent in 2023, but that's turned around since the calendar flipped to August. Over the last 30 days, the Brewers have a 20.7 percent strikeout rate, which is the lowest mark in MLB. Chicago Cubs starter Jameson Taillon managed just two strikeouts in his lone start against the Brewers this season, and Milwaukee is seeing the ball much better now than it was then. Take the under.
