WHO IS THE MOST OVERRATED TEAM IN COLLEGE BASKETBALL THIS YEAR?
I think it is North Caralina but that could just be because they beat Ohio State this year, so im hating, but let me know your thoughts.

UNC for sure haha and Alabama
-
(#16) Butler. You know why? Because my UWM Panthers (5-7) are about to whoop 'em in a couple weeks.. (!) lol
Serious though. -
Kentucky! Even though they are ranked out of the top 25, whatever they are ranked is too high. They are AWFUL!
-
I think it is UCLA. Don't get me wrong, they are a very good team, but I don't think they are as good as everyone is claiming they are... at least not yet. They struggled vs. Texas in trying to figure out how to get Kevin Love involved, and in at least another game there has been a poor attempt at getting the ball in the post. Despite this, I believe he is the leading scorer. I'm not saying the offense needs to run through Love, but at least get the ball inside and see what he can do more often. If UCLA does a better job at feeding the big man in the post, then I think they will then be as good as people seem to think they are.

Marquette! Marquette 7-1 ranked ahead of Pitt, Tenn, Indiana, Tex A&M, Clemson Butler, and Vanderbilt all who have better records! I know strength of schedule plays into this, but don't W's count for anything theses days???? Heck, Pitt is 10 and 0! GO BLAZERS!!!!
11. Pittsburgh 10-0 1,060
12. Tennessee 9-1 1,024
13. Indiana 9-1 941
14. Texas A&M 9-1 881
15. Clemson 8-0 742
16. Butler 9-1 567
17. Vanderbilt 10-0 562 -
W's? They have lost one game this year, and it was a game that went right to the end vs Duke. I guess a win over rival Wisconsin AT Wisconsin who has the one of the best home win %'s of all time doenst mean much.
-
And Pitt has lost O! They have no L's. Clemson and Vanderbilt.... same deal. Duke is a great team, but I don't care how Marquette barely got beat or gave Duke a run for their money. Marquette freaking lost. Let me know when they beat Duke, or other truly high caliber team, then I will share your love and admiration w/ you.
-
Oh yeah..... Pitt did beat Duke.....Gigitty Gigitty goo!

I dont know why this posted twice... Sorry.
-
2x the chance of winning ;)

I'm gonna take Georgetown with this one. Yes, they are undefeated so far, but who have they played? Alabama? Michigan? They lost their main star (Jeff Green) this year and I don't think they can feet it done against the top teams that they're ranked with. I am not saying that G'town isn't good, but they're ranked as if they're great and haven't proved a thing to me. I'm banking on Derrick Rose and Memphis to show them what a real contender looks like on Saturday and expose their weaknesses. Roy Hibbert is good, but people talk about him like he is a star, when I just don't see it from him, much like I see from the rest of the team.
-
And much like I expected, Memphis beat GTown by double digits.
-
Marquette, they are 7-1 in the top 10 over undefeated teams. They are still playing the easiest part of there schedule. They will be out of the top 15 when they play Pitt, G-Town, Louisville, Syracuse, Villanova, West Virginia, and don't forget about Providence.
-
Some PC luv. I like it. Rhody ran them off the floor, though. Look out for URI come March!
-
did you read my post??
-
North Carolina and thier bigshot on the court Hansbully
-
UCLA....the hype over K-Love is too much. The kid can't jump!! I think they finish 3rd in the pac-10 beind Oregon and Washington St. I wish my OSU Beavers were good, bet you didn't know they had a basketball team? Go BEAVERS!!
-
most overrated has to be gonzaga. yeah they are a decent team and can sniff the sweet sixteen once and awhile but they have a cupcake conference! if they were a legitimate top 25 team they would run the table in the wcc every year. i would like to see them join a major conference and finish 9-9 in conference every year. and GO you are hating on those tar heels, they are one of the few top tier teams not relying on freshman right now. not hating on freshman but experience helps come tourney time.
-
I would have to say that the most overrated team in College Basketball is definately North Carolina.
-
Oregon is the most overrated team; they lost their leader last year in brooks and now they have no true point guard. Porter is a shoot first point guard which isn't good for their system. The team doesn't play any defense and just tries to out score you.
-
I really do believe killer offense can beat defense.
(...but maybe that's just cause I'm a Suns fan?) -
tho im a duck football fan i got to say the ducks are the most overrated they havent showed much to me this year im not sure if the nations sayign the ducks aregood but portland seems to think there gods gift to basetball but there not. go tar heels sorry we beat ohio state
-
Georgetown.
You see it every year when teams come into a season after a successful, unexpected run in the NCAA's and opponents start getting up to play them. There's a lot of competition in the Big East from Pitt to Providence who are all going to give them their best shot. I'm not saying they aren't a contender, I'm just saying they will have some disappointing defeats in early 2008 and everyone will start doubting if Hibbert & Co have what it takes to make another deep run in March. -
i think its UCLA, thats all i got to say.
-
I'm going with Gonzaga. It seems they get ranked high every year because of a strong tourney appearance a few years ago. Who have they played to be ranked right now?
-
Um, Oregon St,
-
FSU- thay have nothing, nothing!

Mich St. has not proven anything yet with thier out-of-conference schedule so far. They are playing easy games in the Breslin Center and can't put a team away. They have a ton of athletes and are overhyped b\c of that. Without Neitzel, this team would lack every aspect of a winning team. Yet somehow they are ranked ninth in the AP. There best game was a loss to UCLA... OVERRATED!
-
Duke
-
UNC - OSU would have crushed them if you were still playing.
-
I'm going with Kansas -- sure they're 11-0, but their opponents are 49-50 on the season, and they don't even get credit for one win, because it came against a D II school -- Washburn. They've only played 2 games on the road this season, which they won by a combined 9 points (USC & Ga Tech) -- and USC is the only ranked team they've played all season. Outside of USC, they are only slated to play 2 more ranked teams all season long...Texas and Texas A&M...can you say "cupcake" schedule this season Coach Self?!
-
You forgot Arizona! Ranked 17 this week. Georgia Tech is always tough for KU and at their place even tougher. When you review the ranked teams nobody has played a tougher schedule than Arizona. Most of these teams have played 1 or none of the top 25. The Big XII is a monster this year and by year's end should have 6 teams in the NCAA Tournament. That schedule is plenty tough enough. These guys all went to the regionals last year and will be ready again this year to go all the way.
-
Just because Arizona's played a tough schedule, that doesn't mean it makes Kansas's schedule any tougher. Besides, when I posted my comment, Arizona wasn't ranked yet...and they're no longer ranked, so that doesn't count either way now. The Big XII only has 3 teams in the Top 25, and to say they're going to send 6 teams to the tourney?...I hope you're not thinking Baylor's going to be one of those teams, because if the tourney committee considers RPI (#55) and strength of schedule (#164) for them they're not getting in. Besides, they're going to drop quite a few games in conference play. I could possibly see 4 teams, and maybe 5, but I just don't see 6 teams coming from the Big 12 this year.
-
The Gators. I'll be the first to admit, I'm not a fan of the team... and I'm sure that there are a billion people out there that would disagree with me, but I really do think they're highly overrated. I know they're the (back-to-back) defending champs and everything, but I definitely believe that there are better teams out there that deserve way more hype than the Gators.
As for the Blazers... I'M SO PROUD OF THEM! I can't believe we're doing this without LA. That speaks alot for the Blazers. I was at the Utah game (we beat them twice last week!) with my "worth waiting for" sign, and I screamed my head off. Hopefully we'll make it 9 tonight, let's beat the Raptors! -
Duke is #6 in the AP. That by my calculation is by far the biggest rating joke so far this year. They got a few good wins but they are going to get murdered in conference play, again!
They will always be overrated... Sorry Josh
-
Texas A&M because they beat my beloved Buckeyes. Maybe Butler and UNC are a close second and third.
-
p.s.greg, i won 2nd prize in a pumpkin carving contest for my greg oden pumpkin, check it out.

-
Thanks man. I agree with your pick as well. You are a winner!
-
i gotta say too, the tar heels really are OVERRATED!
-
Duke, Duke, Duke. Nothing's gonna give for them.
-
USC - They're 7-3 and manage to crack the AP Top 25 on the reputation of unproven freshman. Win some more games and earn that spot. I know they've only lost 4 points each to Kansas and Memphis - but let the RPI and Committee worry about that stuff when that time comes. You win, you deserve your spot, they haven't done that.
The Sagarin computer rankings have them 42nd (!!), 2 spots behind tOSU http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/bkt0708.htm?loc=interstitialskip
And I've got one question. I need someone to give me the right answer: OSU or LSU? -
blah 109 thats a good ass pumpkin.
I don't UNC is overated real talk. They are stacked, I believe they will do damage
I would say
Kansas -
i'll say washington st they are ranked 7th and 8th in the poll and they haven't beatin any teams thats worth mentioning.
-
Yay!!! We did it !!!!
Congratulations :) -
NINE! GO BLAZERS!!!!
-
MEMPHIS. My roommate loves them but I don't see whats so special. Sure Rose is great, especially for a freshman, and they are a great run-n-gun team, but until they play some more tough competition, they can't get by with close losses to no name teams. Gonzaga had this problem when Morrison and Ravio played, but its not the same with Memphis who needs to prove something much bigger if they want to be honorably ranked #2 in the nation.
-
gotta go w/ pitt -- easily the most overrated. they barely beat the washington huskies which is a team you will never hear of come conference play because they play in the toughest conference in the nation: PAC 10. good luck rehabbing I love the espn commercial. I think your versatile :P kung fu oden lol it was blast to have you at OSU even though it was only one year. I ain't mad get your paper and rep the bucks.
-
UNC has definitely got to be the most overrated team followed by Florida
