Getting Ready
So i plan to be going to Portland pretty soon. Im very excited to get started and be around my teammates. I need to get use to Portland the city and just the NBA life. I started working out by myself, so what ive been doing really is running on the treadmill everyday and lifting, while doing push ups and sit ups every night. I would run outside but the humidity in Indiana is so bad i honestly think i would pass out. So the treadmill has been my friend and enemy but its good for me. I usually run on the treadmill then get on the elliptical and finally get on the sitting bike and put the resistance all the way up, its more like a lift. I do all of that then i lift. Its still so hot that when im done working out and i get in the shower im still sweating. Its all going for me getting in shape, and one thing that everyone says thats very important to prepared for the league is getting in shape.

The weather here will probably be in the low to middle 80's next week but the heavy humidity will be left out. Time has come for BrazerRoll to begin. Get here; get fired up and let's return to Blazer mania... Again Greg let me say, WELCOME ABOARD!!!
-
yo Greg if you want an amazing view of the city of Portland, go to Council Crest.
-
The view from Mt. Tabor is equally as amazing.
And has good stairs/paths to run. -
Right on - I married my wife at Council Crest. Beautiful place (if you can find it).
-
You're coming to Portland at the right time. Oregon is beautiful in September.
-
the midwest humidity is brutal, after living in san diego and now portland I could not imagine spending another summer anywhere else, especially in the midwest or south!
-
i'm curious... how much can you bench?
-
I don't know, but it's more than Kevin Durant. Actaully, I bet G.O. could bench press Kevin Durant. :-P
-
it's amazing that you can motivate yourself to work out like that. if I were in your position I would buy a personal trainer, a chef or a pre-prepared meal plan (Nutrisystem?), and like 12 Turtles.
-
Good to here your running. Your stamina has been the biggest knock on you so far. Remember GregO, Defense, Defense, Defense......
-
Do work, OG...DO WORK!
-
Can't wait to see ya in the Blazers uniform man!!!
-
What team are you most excited to play next season? If you don't have a team maybe a player you want to match up aginst? I have been a Blazer fan since 89 and I would love to see you SMASH the Lakers. One more thing about your nickname, the only man to ask is Kenny Smith. He holds the key to nicknames, just ask half man half amazing. Don't let Barkley do it or he will nickname you crispy cream.
-
It's good to see you have the work ethic to be a pro. Some had wondered about having the heart to survive in the NBA. It sounds like you'll do just fine. Ignore the naysayers and have fun.
-
I heard Greg Oden never gets tired.
-
Greg,
Hoping to see you out here soon. You will love summer in Portland. Much sunshine, low humidity. I lived on the E Coast and suffered through many humid summers. Get yourself out here and you will wonder how you ever lived anywhere else!

--> Greg Oden is like Chuck Norris...except manlier -
Oh by the way Greg--weather here is awesome! Was just at the beach and it was 70 and half-cloudy half-sunny for three days straight with 10mph wind...pretty nice.
-
We can't wait to have you here in Portland, you are going to fall in love with this city. Thanks for bringing classy back to Portland.
-
Thank you Greg for working so hard. We Blazer fans really appreciate someone working out over the summer rather than hitting the pipe and getting dui's. Congratulations again for being #1.
-
Yeah dude take it seriously--goin' up against just average guys is tough in the NBA because you are going to be wiped out from double teams and stuff...you'll wanna' be in super good shape...anyway best of luck to you--the weather at the coast was beautiful this week--be sure to go training down there Rocky Balboa style one of these weekends....beach joggin' and all that good stuff ;-)
Best of luck 2ya! -
Conditioning like you never have before, man. You will need it for the grind. Can't wait to see you develop here in PDX. Hope you love it enough to call it home. Welcome!
-
G.O. WELCOME TO P-TOWN! you will soon see what rip city is all about. Good luck this season hope you dominate everyone that steps up!
-
Get in LaMarcus Aldridge shape and you'll be fine. Man I want you to come to Portland a get to know the city more. It will seem small to you real soon if it doesn't already. There's Lloyd Center, the movies, Nice restaurants down town and a Mall downtown too. We got some cool city parks too. Just enjoy the good weather. You can wear sweaters here in the winter, and a t shirt and shorts in the summer. No humidity.
Welcome to the City of Roses -
I wonder what the NBA workouts will be like for you. You are a work horse anyway so I am thinking you will be used to it and you will be surprised how "usual" they will be.
OHHH, I have to tell you, last night Jimmy came running in the front room and said you were on TV. We all turned the channel and there you were, bigger than life on an awards show! Now Jimmy wants to know, are you really going to be in High school Musical 3 and did you get to meet Hannah Montana (Miley Cyrus)? He was so excited! You were great too! That was really fun to see you on TV like that. we love you! Take care and give Brandon my love! -
Have you left yet? 8^)
-
I'm excited for you to get started too. These dog-days of summer are killing me.
Is it October yet? -

-
Hey Greg, just wanted to know do you have any rituals or superstitions before any games? Its hot here in Columbus too! Good luck on you transition to Portland!!
-

kind of creepy that the guy is thinking about you right before he is about to get married, lol.
-
When I saw at the draft day party that we got first pick it was the happiest moment of my life (I'm only 13, sheesh) But anyway, I mean it. I love you! In a brotherly love way of course:)

I love it, stick to basketball. I figure that you could dominate a game of beer pong if you devoted yourself to it.... please don't though, go blazers! -
It's amazing how fast Blazers have turned this once in disarray franchise around. I can now proudly take my son (who wants to be a professional hooper) to the Blazers game w/o having to explain to him why this player or that player is not on the court. I thought it would be atleast another 5-10 years before the Blazers got back on track. The West Coast could be in for a big surprise when the play off race is near its end. Go Blazers.
Mr. Cooper -
Come on and get here already! The weather is beautiful!!! September is my fave month here - hopefully you'll get to enjoy it as you learn your way around town! I hope you are sensing the growing excitement I'm witnessing all over town. There are a ton of Blazer jerseys, hats, gear being worn! We know we're very lucky to have you. That being said, after following your blog and articles I've read about you, we're honored to have such a upstanding young man join our city! Thank you, Greg and kudos to your family! Lastly, for my 2nd wedding anniversary next week - I bought your jersey and some new Blazer gear for my husband. (uh, I hope he's not reading this!) The BEST gift would be to meet you and get your signature on it! ;0) Maybe someday!! So hurry up and get here already! We're ready to welcome you as a resident of the city o' roses, and I'm anxious to finally experience Rip City!!! I've only heard about it every season for the past 11 years. Fear Not G-man...you'll do great! ;0)

Looking at Mike Barret's blog I see you're here and working out! I think it's so great you guys are so committed that you are here a month early! Anyone that hasn't should check out Barret's Blog and watch the video and check out all of the pics from the practices:

BTW if you ever want to check our blog out and post a comment we'd love to have you. go to http://www.hoopstarbasketball.com/blognews/ Thanks Oden and good luck this year!!! We'll be watching!!!!
-
G O,
You're making us Hoosiers throughout the country look good in our arguments of who has the best basketball talent! I'm dominating these clowns in NYC currently. -
Quick tip from an Oregonian: don't swim in the Columbia River. It's radioactive.
-
Or the Willamette (from another Oregonian). The powers-that-be claim the Willamette is safe to swim in now but don't buy into it. That river is nasty.
-
I live in iowa...bought Sirius radio just to hear the games...hurry, let's go.
