Todays the Day
So todays the day. We arrived in LA yesterday and I tried to do anything I could to just relax. I had a really good dinner with my family and friends who all flew out for the game. When i got back to my hotel I watched TV and just went to bed. I didn't have any trouble fallin asleep. But today Im excited. I feel like ive been waiting for this for a while. Yeah i learned a lot last year from watching Joel and everyone but its not the same. I'm ready to get out on the court and just play. Its good to start off against a good team like the Lakers. So were just gonna go out there and play our hardest and hope for the best. Thanks to everyone whose been so supportive of us. 2 more hours...im healthy, my knee is good, Im ready to go.

Just learn from the mistakes, Portland's still got a talented group of young guys.
You'll be just fine. (-:
Take care of that ankle and here's to a speedy recovery, Greg.

Grade I (mild, recovery time: 2-3 days): The injury is fairly mild, causing microscopic tears or stretching of the ligaments.
Grade II (moderate, recovery time: 2-3 weeks): The ligaments may be partially torn, and the stretching is more severe.
Grade III (severe, recovery time: 4+ months): The ligaments are completely torn, so the foot may be unstable and no longer able to bear weight.

Just remember that God doesn't give the weak people strong loads to carry. You've been given a mighty load to shoulder and you're only 20 years old. I'm a season ticket holder who just wanted you to know that. Whatever is wrong... I will be praying for peace in your heart.

You have waited a long time to get here, it is not 2-4 weeks out that will stop you. Keep your head up, this will not stop you from becoming the player you can be.
I know there is a lot of people talking things about your health right now. That is easy to do. What is not so easy to see is what is beyond this. And there is a bright NBA future waiting for you, man.
Don't let this bring you down.

cdu1411 said October 30, 2008
don't be so hard on yourself my man, i know your expectations on yourself are bigger than what any of us can expect. don't think about the haters too much. heck, don't think about the fans too much. just worry about being you.. and WINNING. those are the only expectations you need to have on yourself.
and one more thing. look at channing. the dude never gets down. just be relaxed greg.. you'll be surprised at how easier this whole nba thing will get for you. we know how serious you are about this.. but relaxing really is the best way to deal with this. it's the best way to deal w/ anything really. even if you don't feel relaxed.. ACT relaxed. until it becomes a habit.
regardless GO, i can't wait for you to get back. and these haters your hear now like jim rome and pretty much 99% of these espn folks.. don't worry about them. just worry about getting well and getting on the court, they'll be back kissing your butt again. LOL.
take it easy big guy. i KNOW you'll have a long career. believe it.
wutduhflipz said October 30, 2008
Cheer up man. I'm seein' you out there and dude you lookin' like you thinking too much. I know all you want to do is impress the fans of the NBA and especially us Blazer fans here in Portland. Don't worry about us Greg. We just want you to play the game how you know how to play. Go out there and have fun with Brandon and LaMarcus and everyone else. The game will come to you. I've never been where you are right now, but I can imagine how it must feel to have everyone zoning in one you; just zone that out. Rip City believes in the Blazers. So start believing in them too.
LET'S GO BLAZERS!~

This city loves you, aside from basketball. We have been looking for a player with good values and manners since Clyde Drexler and you know....I think you could run for mayor and pull some good numbers so.... just take your time and be GREG! We don't want a championship so bad that if we don't get one soon we will be mean-spirited. We want a team of good people too, thats why this years team is special....the people and coaches on the team are good humans. Take your time with this NBA thing...you have a career ahead of you not just a season. Just be GREG. Good Luck this year, but your value is not contingent on you playing basketball, but you being you!

I rolled my ankle a year and a half ago. When I saw you get injured Tuesday, I was reminded of the excruciating pain. Take it easy big guy. You are not carrying the weight of your team on your shoulders. I am sure you will come back stronger than ever. It was nice to see you at the game last night, supporting the team's heroic battle with the Spurs. Soon we will see you back in uniform, punishing the opposition. But take your time. The NBA superstars did not achieve their potential in their first couple of seasons. Fans need to be patient. We will see much exciting basketball this season, and in the seasons to come. Undoubtedly, you will be an important part of it.
yours,
Mark
BTW: I still haven't seen your Obama video. Did it ever get aired? Can you give us a glimpse?

Hope the rehab is going well. Don't rush. We're patient. Really. I know it may not sound like it, but your fans want more than anything for you to get better and back in game shape, not rush out on the floor and re-injure yourself or limit your effectiveness. I hope healing goes well for you. Stay strong. We're behind you.
