The Start Of A New Year

Today starts a new year for me. Things are going to change and be better for me. I have to put everything that happen to me and my family last year behind me. 2007 was a pretty eventful for me, i lost my best friend in a car accident, my college team made it to the National Championship, I got drafted, had a bad summer league, got my tonsils out, and had knee surgery. This year will be different. I started it off right i went in and lifted, did rehab and shoot. So i will be working really hard to come back strong next year, thats my entire focus for this year.

Greg I wish you the best. I hope this year brings you great things. Think on the bright side though. You have this awesome group of guys waiting for you, and everyone wants to see you play. You are now in the NBA! The NBA man, to get there is a feat within its own.

Every time you do a last set of reps just think of those blocks you will make, the 25 rebound games you will have. You will dominate the league in due time, be patient with your body, sit on that sideline and watch, watch and learn, so when you get on that court you will know how the players in the league move, so you can calculate when & where you can block them.

By some the footage I've seen Greg. The knee and your body is looking good. It's obvious that you are putting in outstanding work to try to get it right. With that same kind of work ethic you will be back in no time dawg. Just keep in mind this is one blazer fan that is completely on your side. Im with you one hundred percent.. And I can't wait to you see back on the court blocking shots once again.

I congratulate you on making it to the NBA. But it sucks you hade the knee surgery. I applaud you for getting drafted right out of college. But remember, when u come to D-town (Denver), you have to put up against Nene, and he a big boy. You and him will make for a very entertaining game. Happy New Year, Greg! May the Lord richly bless you, your successful rehab, and your family this year! You mentioned something awhile ago about feeling a pain in your knee that got me thinking. I got inserts in my shoes from a podiatrist to correct my flat feet problem a few months ago. Three days later my back went out. Then a month later I started having subtle coordination problems, walking and running smoothly. Then my knee started hurting. Now my knee is swollen up like a water balloon (Applying ice has helped). I say all of this to say that, in my humble opinion, inserts can throw a lot of things off that I took for granted. I don't know if your insert had any impact on you, but it is definitely something to be aware of. They seem to have resulted in me having to make adjustments in my entire skeletal-muscular structure. I am very sorry about the loss of your best friend. I couldn't imagine going through that. Keep your head up, and remember that all your hard work will pay off in the end. Keep it up, man! You off all peope should know...it's going to be tough at times but it will be SO worth it. Just remember to stay focused, healthy and happy. Can't wait to have you back! It IS going to be a good year this year! Best Year Ever! It's ok that the Blazers lost to Utah and ended our streak, because we are starting a NEW streak tonight at Minn! The video looked good, I can't wait to see you back in action, I recently busted out with some of the summer league footage I had recorded and re-watched a few of your choice blocks! Keep at it Mr. Oden and you will be leading the league in blocks come a few months!

Greg, your personality and outlook is very refreshing - keep it up! I can't wait to see you body up to Boozer, Chandler, Brad Miller, and all the other "tough" guys out there. They better get their licks in now because next season it's going to be a different story.

I was lucky and made it thru those many years to not only look old be live to be old... In spite of everything negative that happened to you in 2007, you are loved, revered and respected. What's up Greg? I went to the T-wolves game on the 27th and bought an "ODEN '08, WORTH THE WAIT" t-shirt. It's awesome and I wear it proudly down here in LA.
About your blog a couple weeks ago: don't get down about not being a part of the streak. You're a part of the team as much as anyone else. Remember that all the work you're doing in rehab and the things you're learning as you study the game from the sidelines now will lead to bigger and better streaks next year. Just keep working hard and believing in yourself. Go Rip City!!!

Greg, I know you are itching to get out there running with your teammates. Just remember that next year you don't have to be the savior. You can just come in and find your nitch, and get into a groove in your own time. BUT, one thing we need on this team is an Enforcer. You know teams are starting to come after us. They can't stop us, so they're trying to lay us out. You can be that physical force inside that lets them know that when they come down low....they're gettin' nothing easy.
I know you're bulking up, and getting huge, so I'm sure you'll be ready. Can't wait to see you out there tearin' the league up later this yr! (That's right, it's '08 already, so you'll be on an NBA court THIS year!)

Hey Greg! I'm really sorry to hear about the tragic loss of your friend. Sometimes one tragedy is followed by another one and when you're down cause of the first one, the secound just hits you so much harder. I say this because i've been through something like you lately. My dad had got alzheimers deciese and his statement keeps getting worser by every day. Then I recently got the message from a doctor that I probably won't be able to play more basketball this season because of my knee injury. Right now those frustrations are nothing compared with the fact that my cat is sick. We have been told that it's about to die, so we are trying our best to realize that and prepare for it. When you really love a cat, it just hurts to loose - and when you do, you don't take a lot of things for granted anymore... Hopefully everything in going to be okay..I also hope that you are doing alright and that your knee will be fine. You know that when times are tough, it's hard to smile and hard to laugh, but it's good to see you doing that and keeping your head up. I will try the same. Take good care Greg!
