The ESPYS

Well last night was the taping of the ESPY awards. I had a blast. I got to go with Michael Conley Sr and Chris Talbott aka GQ. It was a great time. When I arrived somebody said "may I take your bag Mr. Oden". I just smiled because honestly I'm still thinking that no one knows my name if they don't play basketball. When I walked in, I saw a whole bunch of football players. They are real cool and diesel. They like to talk and they are friendly. A lot of them talked about their colleges and most of them were from Michigan. They gave me a hard time. They were all cool about it though. That first night was the TI party at the Roosevelt. There were a lot of people there when I got there. All I wanted to do was watch him perform, but I couldn't cause i was way too hungry to pass up the food. When I finally got to the place where he was performing, he did one song and was done. I was in there for 15 mins after hoping he would come back out but when I realized almost everyone had left the place I got the hint that it was over. The next day I got to present the Gatorade Player of the Year, an award that I was involved in two years ago and last year. I won it last year. Those times spent with the Gatorade people where the best times of my life. I got to see almost everyone from the previous times I was there and I missed them. For them to ask me to be a part of it, I answered yes with no hesitation. After that I had to go get ready for the ESPYs. I was looking all good in my suit. People usually say the man makes the suit. Well, in my case the tie made the suit, honestly. I got to be on the red carpet with all the stars and celebrities. It was crazy to me because I still don't look at myself as one. But people would come up and say hi to me and I would be star struck. I'm not gonna leak too much about the show except that whoever watches it, you have to watch the beginning when it first comes on because Mr. Kimmel talked about me. I also presented the 4th or 5th award. Shaq called me out -- it was funny. The show was hilarious. I was sitting next to LeBron's Mom. She and I laughed almost the whole show. Also 2 seats down was Ms. Regina King and she was very beautiful, but I didn't talk to her. The post party was cool. It was packed. I was excited to meet everyone there, but the two that I smile about the most are Kendra from "The Girls Next Door" and Sarah Underwood "Playmate of The Year" -- she is from Oregon ;). They were two of the finest women I have ever met, hands down. Those two were the stars that I won't stop telling people I met for years. In a wrap, the ESPYs were a blast and I would love to go back again.

Glad to hear that your enjoying yourself. Hopefully you can get some rest after your surgery (wont be bad) then you will be ready to tear it up in late August! Looking foreward to watching the ESPYS.

Sounds like fun, I wish you had your tonsils taken out a long time ago so you could play summer league, it's weak with out you or LA. There are way better woman out there than the two you names though, look at Jessica Alba in F4 2. Also that one girl from Transformers...damn..stay up man...Dunk on Shaq next year if you get the chance.

Oh and another thing, it's been like a hundred here in Portland ever day this week but today. Not only was it 100 yesterday but there was an earthquake..just to let you know what's up at home.

Hey, I heard most of the team is getting together a month before TC to start practicing together. I know a lot of Blazers did last year and I am just so happy to be a season ticket holder when the players are so serious about winning that they'll give up some of their off time.

Wow, I have to say that I'm jealous. Sounds like you had an amazing time. I'm glad you're enjoying your newfound stardom and having fun, because you should never forget to sit back and enjoy your success. But (I'm sure you've heard it a million times) pleasepleaseplease make sure you don't get too sidetracked. You are extremely talented, and we all want to see you prove yourself at the next level. Stay focused on work, but take frequent party breaks :)

All these nicknames that people are making up for you drive me crazy. Hope you know that it is just that people are so excited to have you in Portland. As for me you are Mr. Oden. Hope someone tells you that you do not eat ice cream after tonsil surgery. It creates mucus that is bad for healing. So stay away from the ice cream.

Sorry about your tonsils. My girlfriend and I are both 25 year old Portland natives, and will soon be opening our own cafe. I know somebody from a previous post told you not to eat ice cream, but hey, you only live once. We happen to make some of the best ice cream around (so we've been told). What's your favorite flavor? And if we make some ice cream for you, how do we get it to you w/out somebody who works for the Blazers eating it first?

Espy's was cool, lebrons hammer/bobby brown dance was classic.
I wanna hear about paul allens private jet. That must of been the most baller thing you have ever done in your life. Did you take any pictures. How did that compare to regular old first class ?

Some real words of wisdom, Stay really close to paul allen, I am sure you will meet Bill, and Steve B Soon too. You know they are not after anything from you, soak as my knowledge as you can from those guys. They really show a lot of stuff of the court.

Have Bro enjoy the RIDE. When you come to chicago, I will come upto you and say whats up. Man you should of seen the thing they did on sportscenter with the kids asking did they know who you were and if they knew how old you were. It was classic, I'll see if I can find it on youtube.

I think you look like 25-26, not 40.

I was reading just what tonsils are because I really didn't know. Tonsils look pretty nasty. It sucks so much that I remembered the ESPYs Sunday morning but wasn't home when they were on because I forgot. What was Shaq's comment? It's pretty cool you have a blog that you can respond to. I always thought if I ever became famous or made it to the NBA I would talk to everyone, then when I got older I felt like I would be one of those celebs that just wants to be left alone. You remind me of my brother, just likes to talk to everyone, don't lose that spirit. Get better, keep healthy, and stay in good shape. Off season goes by quickly. I hear your going home for the summer, have fun...stay up..okay peace man.
