Media Day
Yesterday was the first official business of the NBA season, it was media day. First off we started the day buy going to the doctors and everyone got a check up. I was like the last one to go thinking that i was not gonna have a lot to do, but i was most definitely wrong. I had to do all the doctor stuff that everyone else had to do. Then we went to do media stuff and once again i thought to myself, well you know i probably wont have to do much since i'm not playing, but i was wrong again. I think i did almost as much as Brandon Roy, who i thought was gonna be given all the stuff i had to do, but once again wrong. After everything i did i seen him doing the same thing. All the stuff wasn't so bad, it was just a long day. To end it we had team dinner at six to talk about some team stuff and things about the upcoming year. Things are looking good. Everyone has great goals and good mindsets going into this coming year. I have very high hopes and i will be there to help and do whatever i can to contribute to this team.

GO could have been a superstar in the making if Blazers didn't pick him, but then again, could he have saved his sanity. For some reason, we as Oregonians try to keep our sanity by keeping our world small and not get involved in too much hype and don't have attention-grabbing people around you....some maybe, but it's totally minimized. If you seek attention, go some place else, go south maybe, if you know what I mean It's goes to the territory where our governor used to say, "we love you to visit, but please go home". So, all these attetion for getting a #1 pick and eventually having a quarter of Californians migrating here is not exactly what we are excited about. Is it a concidence that this otherwise healthy, promising young man suddenly goes under the knife few weeks after living in Portland. That could be the answer before all the papparazis have settled in an apartment somewhere around Portland. If GO will turn out to be Oregonized, he would have to settle into a lifestyle that's low key and not get into that much hype, which ultimately will keep him on earth and not get into the roller coaster of hype like young celebs do ,ie. BS,LL... that can destroy even an angel-like attitude. So, what happened to him might just be the best thing that could have happen to him personally and pro-career. He can sort out who's there for him and who's not early on. That way, he can just play basketball hopefully for a very long time.

Have you felt the bug to get back on the court again? About this time every year I get that bug... and its been 10 years since I really played.

I think that'd be the wirst part of being an athlete...having to answer dumb-ass questions from bad reporters who don't do research.
Although, any reporters you met who are damn fine? (lookswise of course, I could care less if Craig Sager is a good interviewer)

Keep positive man. Without trials you can't have triumphs.

Had a thought about your nickname: it should not be G. O. (gee-Oh). . . it should just be 'GO' as in "Shaq is playing off of me. . . I think I will ask for a good post entry pass and GO dunk on him." How does that sound Greg?

I have no idea when/ if you will read these, but I am following your progress and rehab. I had microfracture surgery (rt knee) the week after you.. and I KNOW what you are going thru. You are on a completely different level, obviously, being a pro athlete, but I have no frame of reference for this surgery/ rehab, etc. (nice to at least get perspective from someone else).... It is not only physically trying.. the mental hurdle is there as well. dont you think? I have been told it can take up to a year to get back to a place w/ limited pain. You have your career to get back to... I just hope to start walking again w/out pain (eventually get back to my hobbies--- tennis and skiing), etc. I am in the CPM mahine as I type.. and am pulling for you/ praying for your recovery. Please keep 'bloggin' about your rehab.. it inspires me and helps me to know I am on the right track. Thanks. mojo coming ur way, Julie

I ran into you at PF Changs the other night. I was the dork at the bar. Was gonna buy you a get well soon drink when my girlfriend noticed you in there but then I realized that a) you aren't old enough to drink and b) dude's buying other dudes a drink is... well... ya know. =D
Did you ordered the lettuce wraps? Man those are grub.
Anyway, get well soon and Im sure I'll see you around again. I seem to always run into Blazers in that part of town. Ran into James Jones loading up on stuff at Costco a couple weeks ago and I've seen a bunch of the guys at The Hot Seat shooting some stick. Do most of your teammates live in that area to be close to the practice facility?

The Costco I saw Jones at is the one in Tigard.
I also waited in line next to John Nash, Kevin Pritchard and several other management people at the Tigard Buster's BBQ about 2 days before it was announced Nash was canned. Would suck to get fired in a Busters, lol.

I'm really excited about the season too. It won't be the same without you, but still will be fun to watch. I can't wait until Wednesday! Not only to watch the team play, but to see you for the first time in person even if you won't be playing. I'm also looking forward to seeing the new scoreboard. It looks awesome from the pics I've seen.
I did have one concern, will you still be able to do your rehab on the road?
GO BLAZERS!!!

I am glad you are up and about, and that you are keeping your positive attitude. You will learn much this year, even without playing. I am just wondering whether the guys will make you do all the rookie initiation things this year, or whether that will be reserved for next season. I hope you aren't treated like a rookie for 2 years in a row. That would just be too much!
Best wishes,
Mark
