hhaahah greg you are really silly. great to hear from you again... hey i have an idea since you are going to be really bored when your not playing how about u blog more often!? yyyyyyayyyy
Best of luck with your rehab Big Man! Keep your spirits up. I know when you come back you'll be better than ever. Everything happens for a reason, and if this makes you stronger, then the organization (and you) will be better off in the long run.
Werd! You doing the apartment life these days or did you put some coin down on a downtown loft? Do the latter man. Can't write off the rent on your taxes. If you don't like it - sell in a year or two and make some profit or rent it out...
I'm glad you know how much we all still support you, and as a Blazer fan living and teaching in Los Angeles, I can't wait to see the team win this year down here. Oh yeah, and then see you down here next year. Sometime to look forward to all the time.
I love you Greg! Tell Brandon I love him too and we need to get some Popeye's fried chicken, as a matter of fact ring that bell and make him go get some for you now! I love you lots, Be good sweetie!
Your place looks real nice, I miss you, let me know when you boys will be back in town. ASk Brandon how school is going?
Nothin but love Greg!!! Don't listen to any haters, just know that when people hate on you that means your a star!!!!1 Get well, take your time getting back. Don't rush the rehab, work hard like we know you will and we'll see ya next year. Keep posting stuff... we love to hear from you. All the support we can give we will. Get well big fella 1
Thanks for the update and nice video. It's good to hear that you know how much all the fans support. We know that you're going to work hard and come back better and more determined than ever.
I like the "I'll Be Back!" title. 'The Odenator Returns'...coming Fall 2008!
Greg- Just wanted to let you know everyone here at the Ohio State University is still supporting you and wishes you the best in your recovery. We saw what you could do and truly were blessed to have you in our program for a year. Work hard and God bless -Rufio
Greg, us longtime Blazer fans think of the team players as members of our extended family, and you are no different. Every one of us is behind you 100% in your recovery. Take care of yourself, enjoy your time away from basketball, after all, you are 19 years old, and you can use this as a mental break between college and the stress of being a top-tier pro. Come back strong next year. Also, I hope you will be there opening night, I want to be able to welcome you to the team in the proper way. Enjoy your movies!
Like you said you will be stronger than every when you come back!
Please don't rush it. I know it's tempting to come back as soon as possible, but you have a long career ahead of you so there is no reason to rush it. It's not like I'm telling you what to do, but be patient! :)
Greg,
Thanks for the update. You have many fans who are hoping that your recovery is smooth. Take your time in coming back to basketball. We will be patient.
That bed in your apartment sure looked short for a tall guy like you!
OOOOOO-DEN, no worries bro. Get better and keep focused, plenty of time ahead of you. Dont listen to the fair weather fans bro, P-TOWN stil loves ya.........!
Get Well soon, I was gonna Fly out to WA to watch a game. I might still do it. REad some good books, and stayed focused. Good Luck with recovery, you talk to amare yet ?
Love you buddy! We are all sending positive energy your way Greg. You keep a positive attitude, and keep your spirits up. We love you, and will always support you. Keep you chin up!
Greg. I'm a super Yao fan, dying to see you and Yao bouncing against each other! Please rehab very well, ok? You a very nice person, so is Yao. Would be really great to see two fascinating big men in the league!
Dont let us down!!!
God bless you Greg! :-)
Having had knee surgery (nowhere near as involved), I can understand thew pain of living in the living room for 3 weeks. I have to say though your TV is about 3 times as large as mine and probably gets a few more channels than my rabbit ears pull in. Good luck with rehab and remember to not enjoy too much of mom's home cooking until you have a way to burn off those extra calories!
Mark Twain said, 'it's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog'... but what happens when you've got a dog that's over 7ft tall with a heart the size of Mt. Hood? Pay no attention to the haters, P-town's got your back. Get well soon GO, you'll be dunkin' on Lakers soon enough.
Hey Greg. You just get healed up. It's hard for me to accept that I'll have to wait another year to see you play in the NBA but I know it is, and will be, much harder for you in every way. We love you man. To you and your family, God bless.
Greg don't worry about it man, with patience and hard work you'll come back better then ever. Just learn from the situation and you'll become a better man and a better basketball player. Keep your spirits up and think about your bright future.
What up G.O. !!! So happy to see you and know you are okay. Sending good thoughs your way and wishing you all the best. The whole city of Portland is on your side.
the whole city? thats a huge understatement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! try the whole state. im down here in coos bay greg, and you have just as much love and support here on the southern oregon coast as you do in p-town
Greg, We love having you in Portland and wish you well. Hang in there, it's going to be a long recovery. Take your time (at least a year) and come back fully healed. We can wait. WAG77
Oden you have exceeded my expectations as a person and a professional. I can't wait for you to come back. I am a huge fan. I hope you use this time to become stronger and learn the game more. It is a great time for you to have the blazer video guys make you highlight tapes of the games best big men. You can study their moves to better prepare you for next. Keep you head up the whole city is here for you.
Ben
Hey Greg, I can't wait for you to get back next year. The one thing I must see before he retires, is you throwing a dunk down on top of Shaq's head. After you hammer it on his azzz, scream and pound your chest. You are the one guy who can just dominate him, so get back before he retires. You have to promise me you will get back and dunk on him, okay. We all love you here in Columbus, and you and your family are in our prayers. Later GO!
You take care of yourself and don't you dare try to push yourself and come back too soon... I mashed the meniscus tissue in my left knee years and years ago, unfortunately I didn't have the insurance to take care of it properly and now I'm in pain pretty much every day. The good news is I can always tell when it's going to rain! The bad news is some days I need a cane to get out of bed. OTOH it's a great excuse to carry a kick-ass cane! :^)
PigpenPiggers Greg already replied to me about Halo. He doesn't play it. I know he may not like it, but man I don't see how he can't atleast play through the Halo 3 campaign video and feel like he is savin the world. Since now he isn't so ready to take on the world. Can't wait for Monday night..Nice Plasma screen Greg...Get better, hope to see you on resting on the bench this year supporting the rest of the team. You may be able to coach Joel on some moves too. Stay up.

Thank you for taking the time to make the video! We are so glad you are making progress. Thank God for your friends, all your fans and especially for your MOTHER. We are all here to support you! We hope to see you at some games supporting the team when you are up to it. Take your time in getting well. Don't get discouraged... remember, you are part of the TRAILBLAZER family. Hi Greg,
I am just one of the thousands of people in the Portland area who have your back. You are a quality person Greg. You have proven that without playing one minute of NBA basketball. We have already made you a part of our little Portland family so don't go thinking your gonna get away from us just because of a little bit of cartilage damage. We love you and we're praying for you. Kick back and enjoy Portland's beautiful fall weather, stay close to your teammates and when your feeling good enough come out and roll around the town so we can say hey. Keep your chin up and remember you don't have to do anything for this town to be a hero you already are.
God bless
Brian
Greg. You GOTTA get that thing with one leg being longer than the other HANDLED. That is why your knee is tweaked. Get Nike to make you some special sneakers, dog! Blazers rule!!!
good luck on the recovery. your humour and character will endear you to the fans back in portland. make sure you keep your head up and don't feel any pressure to come back too soon. that city is gonna love you man. no worries. are you going to be able to travel with the team during the season? i certainly suggest that you make yourself seen at home games. you will be welcome and cheered, guaranteed. take the time to gel with your teammates. i look forward to watching you have a long career. get well.
I know that you will be back and be better than ever. Keep your head up. Greg, if you need something to read check out my blazer blog. The latest story is about game 7 from the 2000 playoffs where the Blazers lost vs. the Lakers... It was a heartbreaking day for Blazer fans. As a current trailblazer I think you need to know about this. http://blazerbandwagon.blogspot.com/2007/09/time-cant-heal-these-wounds.html
Being a part of the Blazers means not having to apologize to the team or to the fans. No matter what anyone says we KNOW you are committed to this team and we are committed to you. As Jay-Z says "What didn't kill me, made me strong as iron." and in a year or so we're going to stronger fans than ever as you help Lamarcus and B-Roy devistate the Western Conference. Take this time to become a fan of our team... join with us as we witness those rare moments that happen just a few times a season (the miracle minute against Dallas, the buzzer-beating three that defeats the Lakers). We know we're building something really special... something thats bigger than any one player or fan... So you do what you gotta do and don't pay attention to the nay-sayers. They can put on purple and gold, Blazer fans never stop believing.
Greg-- Having been thru a few knee surgeries, I can say you're already thru the worst of it. From now on, every day will be a bit better. Even the rehab will be like that. There will be some pain, but not as bad as what you've already experienced. And every single day you'll be making progress towards hitting the court again.
Hey there Greg, good to see your in good spirits. Thats the main key. Being medically retired I know what your going through, the bright light is that you have a chance to get better. You can even come back better then before as you said, like randolph did last year. You had a great doctor, you have great fans and you have a wonderful area to explore while in rehab. I doubt you ever would, but if you ever want to hang out and play some games send a shout out. Just offering, you're probably bored from time to time (been there, understand) The blazers will be rocking again this year, and when you get back we will be destroying. Wishing you the best of luck with that knee.
Hey G.O.,
Don't sweat this. We'd all rather have you be healthy, than screw up the rest of your life because of an injury that you tried to play through. I'm not talking from a Blazer standpoint or an NBA standpoint, but as a human being. You seem like a great kid and you're going to go far in your life no matter what, just keep that in mind. Get healthy, stay focussed on that, don't worry about letting anybody down, you haven't. Get well "soon", I know it'll take a little while, but just keep your chin up. Everybody in Oregon still has your back, and we'll support you till the end. Take it easy,
E.L.
Stayton, OR
Hey Greg, Glad to see you're doing ok. Stay positive my man. ALOT of people are rooting for you and we know you will be back stronger than ever. The team will miss your inside force, but they'll be alright.I am 48 yrs. old and have never written to anyone on a blog before! But I was compelled to write you because i am very impressed with your maturity at your age.Your mom has done a great job raising a fine young man! I was a casual Blazers fan since moving here 10yrs ago. My interest in the team picked up last year when my main man Brandon Roy was drafted along w LaMarcus. Getting Channing Frye was great too! I can't wait for you all to be on the court together. Good luck and rehab like a mother!!
Greg, I won't be able to sign your get well card since I'm in NY, but I do truly wish you a quick full recovery. We all enjoy your skills and your character. We'll be watching you in 08-09.
I've been a blazer fan since the Drexler days and I was so happy we got you I cried. Take your time gettin' back, you have the whole town's support. This will only make us a better team. Oh,and I don't know what you've heard, but Blazer fans are the best in the world and we'll support you the rest of your life! See you soon.
Good luck Greg. As a basketball fan, I was totally bummed to hear you would miss the season, but I am really looking forward to your the rest of what I am sure will be a long and successful career. The NBA truly needs your skill and gregarious personality. Good luck with the rehab- don't try to come back to soon! God bless!
Greg, You still are VERY, VERY young. Get healthy and take you time coming back. From a buckeye fan we are looking forward to you playing next year. Good Luck. Brad Columbus, OH
My name is James I made an account to write to you. Ive been a Trail Blazers fan for like 10 years. im 24 years old, i live in Virginia (moved here from Oregon abut 4 years ago). You know why the fans are respecting you so much? Its because you are respecting them. You are definately the type of player Portland has been waiting for. You really do care for people and this team has been missing that for many many years. Ofcourse your teammates B Roy, Lamarcus, Jarret Jack and crew are all great guys too. But you are definately a caring person. You know good things happen to good people. Your situation now, no big deal. Theres always a positive to a negative. There will always be haters, critics, etc but who cares. Im very happy and proud to have you as a member of the team Ive loved for so many years. Youll definately be back and I cant wait. Im not going to expect you to bring a ring to portland like many others who seem to pressure you so much. Relax and take it day by day, whether it be rehab or when you do come back.
For the mean time do what you gotta do bro. I know youll be back and be a great player, but most importantly have fun and be happy. thats all that really matters in the end. Thanks for being who you are man, even though you wont suit up this year ill be rooting for you to a great recovery. I hope you wake up everyday with positive feelings, even though you had surgery and going through all these stressful things, God has blessed you and always will.
Hi Greg,
My name is Logan. I hope you get well real soon. I cannot wait until you feel better and I can watch you play. I hope you win a NBA championship.
Logan
Greg, I believe you when you say you'll be back better than ever. You obviously have the drive and the determination to do whatever you want. So I have great confidence that I'll get to see you in a Blazer uniform eating up the competition next year. But even if you never play 1 game in the NBA you'll be successful at whatever you choose to do and you'll have a great life. And Oregon will still love you because we recognize what a unique and special young man you are and we've claimed you as a native son. On another note, all this talk about how you look like a 40 year old man? Well, you'll have the last laugh because you're still going to look the same when you're 40, 50, 60, 70, 80------and people will be astonished at how young you look for your age!
Don't blame yourself for any of this, Greg. Just focus on doing the work each day to rehab and everything else will take care of itself. We're all behind you.
Greg, everythng in me knows that you will do excatly what you say you will do. It makes me look up to you even more when you say that your going to come back better then ever. (Just like in college with the wrist)..well i hope everthing goes well in rehap.
~God Bless.~
G.O. - you've got a ton of support back here in 'Naptown. Keep doing what you do. No matter what happens out there, we know you'll handle it with class just like you handled the spotlight at LN & OSU.
Hey Greg, I just want to say get well soon; you know that we're all here for you, and we're gonna support you throughout the whole rehab. There's no doubt in my mind that you will come back better than ever, and that will make the Blazers an even stronger team. It sucks that you're not gonna be playing this year, but I think the team will still compete and make you proud. I'm sure all that time off can be boring at times, so I just wanna let you know that if you ever need something to keep you entertained, feel free to listen to my podcast at www.gcast.com/u/steelcity . I talk about Sports, News, and Entertainment, and I always try to devote some time to talk about my beloved Blazers. Good luck with your rehab man; keep us updated on how everything is going.
Dude, this is great! It shows that you are still real and that you really care about your fans. You are fast becoming one of my top NBA players! Hey I saw the question about what DVD's you are watching. I was wondering myself. I could recommed some if you would like. Talk to you later!
Benny
Greg, I am amazed at the level of maturity and compassion you are expressing during this difficult time. You certainly are a wonderful person and stellar athlete. Portland is lucky to have you, and I am certain I speak for most of Oregon when I say that we are praying for you, and just want you to get better. You are young and have very, very long career ahead of you, so one season is just a minor setback. Thank you for keeping the fans updated, and know that we here in Tualatin are all praying for you.
"and heres my picture, I think I am hot, and you are magically going to save me from the life of a stupidity" ......your one weird acting (and looking) chic.
Hey Greg - I had the same surgery and was really stressed about "coming back better than ever". As a triathlete my knee was pretty critical for biking and running. Almost 2 years to the day from my surgery I finished the Ironman which consists of swimming 2.4 miles, biking 112 miles and running 26.2 miles all in 17 hours or less soooooo........ If I can do that after the surgery you can definitely rehab and come back to rock the Blazers! Take care and best of luck with rehab!
Hang in there, man. I'm sure you're depressed right now, but it will be history in 12 months or so. There's a lot you can learn about the team and Nate's philosophy in the meantime. Plus, you can build your upper body while rehab'in the knee. (I've had my share of sports injuries over the years, and need another shoulder surgery...I know the routine)
Be positive...stay engaged with your teammates...inner strength...inner strength. Faith.
Glad to hear from ya. It takes alot of courage and strong heart to deal with this and you have handled like a proffesional. Thank you for your honesty and compasion. That's why you will always be loved in Buckeye Nation!!
Thanks for the great year you gave Ohio State...you seem like a nice, humble guy and it's a shame such a fate had to befall you at the beginning of your NBA career. You don't need me to tell you to stay strong and keep yer head up.
Yo G whatup bruh, Man i tore my Acl, its the worst. But you are a pro, and you are going through so much already. Keep ya head up boy. Dont let nobody criticize you, next season you gotta help them blazers to the finals. Thas wussup. You gonna be ballin on that NBA 2k8? Shit hoimie, they got you like a beast in that game. Speakin of that, are you a 2k guy or live?
P.s-if theres any chance this whole leg thing is just one big insanley mean joke, please let me know, and i promsie ill keep it secret, thanks big guy, haha
Greg-im sure i can speak for All Oregon when i say everyone is real proud of the way your dealing with this like a man,i havnt heard you whine or cry once, your a tough s.o.b and ill continue to have faith partna, take care of yourself
Greg- Hope you get well. There are a bunch of us native Portlanders who live here in Seattle. We all just wish you the best. I have been telling my friends who are Sonic fans to jump on the Rip City bandwagon as the Sonics are leaving town. I always say hey how hard is it to root for Mr. Sonic coach Nate?! Anyway- you take care of yourself. Peace- Marc
Greg..i was in a media void for a while...Just found out about your knee, Dawg. That sucks. But keep your head up focus on the rehab do all you got to do to get that knee back to better condition. then we'll be ready for your return to this city, state, and team. I had knee surgery when i was 20. I know the pain and the road ahead. Stay up, son.
hhaahah greg you are really silly. great to heat from you again... hey i have an idea since you are going to be really bored when your not playing how about u blog more often!? yyyyyyayyyy
Greg, looks like we live about the same..I have a futon bed in my living room area, but this is a loft apartment. So it's all good! Good luck with the recovery, can't wait to see you out there competing with the other big men in the league!
Greg, i hope your doing better by now. your blog video... it's interesting. you look like a pretty down to earth person.
i have a question; more of a request. what sort of physical therapy are you doing? like what exercises or stretches are they making you do?
I have a friend who's had the same surgery, he still runs with a horrible limp but he's dying to get better. i want to help him.
please tell me what sort of PT they're doing with you.
thanks man!
best of luck!
Your an inspiration to all young Centers. You play the game I wish I could If I were 7'0. I respect you for going through all this work, and I wish for you to have one of the greatest NBA careers a center has had. I put you right up there with Bill Russel
Hello Greg Oden i am a huge fan, just reminding u, take your time don't put so much pressure on yo self, u got a ton of talent and it will come to u. ( u on my fantasy team) GO BLAZERS!!!!!!!!!!

Take it easy,
E.L.

Almost 2 years to the day from my surgery I finished the Ironman which consists of swimming 2.4 miles, biking 112 miles and running 26.2 miles all in 17 hours or less soooooo........
If I can do that after the surgery you can definitely rehab and come back to rock the Blazers!
Take care and best of luck with rehab!

i have a question; more of a request. what sort of physical therapy are you doing? like what exercises or stretches are they making you do?
I have a friend who's had the same surgery, he still runs with a horrible limp but he's dying to get better. i want to help him.
please tell me what sort of PT they're doing with you.
thanks man!
best of luck!
